Window Graphics & Perforated Vinyl
Full graphic coverage on glass. Normal visibility from inside.
Perforated window vinyl lets you run a full-coverage graphic on vehicle windows or storefront glass while maintaining visibility from inside. It's the standard for rear-window vehicle advertising and a widely used option for commercial storefront window branding.
Perforated vinyl — sometimes called one-way vision vinyl — is a film with thousands of small holes, typically covering 50% of the surface area. From the outside, you see the printed graphic. From the inside, light passes through those holes and you can see out, as though you were looking through a screen door.
For vehicles, the primary application is rear window graphics. The rear glass on a transit van, SUV, or pickup truck is highly visible real estate — everyone behind you in traffic sees it. A rear window graphic with a company name, phone number, or strong visual can generate more impressions per day than many of the other advertising channels a small business is paying for monthly.
Visibility from inside: Standard 50/50 perforated vinyl (50% open area, 50% film) reduces outward visibility somewhat — similar to looking through a window screen. It's most noticeable in low-light conditions when interior lighting creates a backlit effect. For rear windows, this is rarely an issue since rear visibility is handled by mirrors. For side windows, we discuss the specific vehicle and use case before recommending perforated vinyl.
Oregon window regulations: Oregon's vehicle code generally permits perforated vinyl on rear windows and rear side windows. We don't apply window graphics to front windshields, driver-side windows, or front passenger windows. If you have a specific application in mind and are uncertain about legibility requirements, we'll clarify before installation.
Storefront window applications: The same perforated film works on commercial storefront glass. Full-coverage window graphics that brand your space while letting customers see through from inside. Common uses: restaurant and retail storefronts, service business windows, promotional seasonal displays that change without a major repainting project.
Removal: Perforated vinyl applied to glass removes cleanly. Vehicle windows are one of the easiest substrates to remove vinyl from — glass doesn't absorb adhesive the way paint and plastic can. A heat gun and clean technique leaves the glass spotless.

Our Process
- 1
Window Measurement + Application Planning
Precise measurement for your specific window dimensions. For storefront glass, we assess the frame, mullions, and desired coverage area.
- 2
Design for Perforated Output
Colors and designs are adapted for perforated vinyl output — the perforation pattern affects how colors and fine detail read, especially in fine text.
- 3
Print on Perforated Film
Printed on quality 50/50 perforated vinyl. Resolution and color profile calibrated for this specific substrate.
- 4
Exterior Application
Applied to the exterior glass surface. Squeegee technique is critical on glass — air escapes through the perforations during application, which requires working in a specific sequence to avoid bubbles.
